Dog shelter volunteering

January 30th was our first visit in 2020 to the Podgorica dog shelter. Under the watchful eye and leadership of the NGO Spas and the NGO Ruka sapi, our small group of volunteers spent three hours walking and hanging out with these wonderful creatures. As the visits are on Thursdays from 3 pm to 6 pm, we have divided into groups and as the shift changes, so will the volunteers who will go to be volunteers in this group in smaller groups, and thus we will contribute. See you next Thursday at 3 p.m.

Support for the Upshift project for the elementary school “Njegos”, Kotor (part 2)

For the second action in a row volunteers of NGO Our action responded to the call for help to the Upshift project for impovements in elementary school “Njegos” in Skaljari, Kotor. The project is lead by three young ladies Dejana Vukokovic, Nadja Srdic and Ivana Rapovac who together with the school teacher Tanja Lalosevic put together a big works schedule for this day: 1. Painting preparation and the paining of the entire hallway, 2. Paining of the school kitchenet, 3. Paining of remaining doors, 4. Paining of the remaining Gym details, 5. Paining of the base for wall targets, 6. Removing of the adhesive from the previous vitrage, 7. Placement of the new vitrage on the windows. The projects the ladies organized has one more planned activity and that is the delivery of school supplies for the Gym and recreational area for the children and with that the school will not only have gotten a new coat of paint everywhere but also a valuable donation of physical education supplies.

Clean up and planting of the old mill area, Ribnica

NGO Our action participated today in the joint action of clean up and organizing the left bank of the Ribnica river, by the old mill. The action was supported by the Greening department of Podgorica, the Waste management company of Podgorica, the Municipality of Podgorica, NGO Green home, Monteneomaks control and logistics company and the firefighters of Podgorica. For NGO Our action this is already the seventh activity this year that we supported with flying colors, happiness and alot of work. The action included three planting, river bank clean up, cutting of additonal greenery, freeing the old mill from shrubbery. Feel free to visit and enjoy this beautiful space in the city.

Spring work in the Mediterranean garden, Gorica

On the 18th of January, youth volunteers form NGO Our action joined spring garden preparation work in the Mediterranean garden in Podgorica. Our host and partner – Union of Gorica lovers gave direction on removing old and dried plants, preparing the ground for planting and weed removal. We will continue to do work in the gardne twice a month until the summer season break.

A day collecting acorns

Actions, Activities

Second year in a row we join organization KOD in their annual acorn collection day, for the initiative called “100.000 trees”. At the great Kakaricka gora location our now professional youth acorn collectors joined volunteers from all generations to collect as many as possible healthy samples that will be planted. Our youth Brian Martic also had a chance to give an interview on the subject, video soon to be released. Join us in activities such as these all across Montenegro.

Humanitarian action collection of Christmas gifts for youth with disabilities in Niksic

On the 26th of december NGO Our action handed finished the humanitarian action of collecting Christmas gift packages for the organization of helping persons with disabilities located in Niksic. 42 gift pakets were collected by volunteers and friends of our NGO. Youth from this organization had a wonderful Christmas party and received their gifts at the party. We thank all the volunteers and donors from the towns of Tivat, Kotor, Herceg Novi and Podgorica for assisting.

Planting of Milos forest on Dajbabska gora, Podgorica

During december NGO Our action joined the planting action of Milos forest on Dajbabska gora in Podgorica. This activity was organized by the organization KOD. It was the beginning of the reforestation of the area funded by money collected by local artist Milos who sold his art work for the purchase of trees. About one hundred trees where planted. We enjoyed being part of this activity. A big thanks to the artist Milos. More to come on planting at this location. #budiprimjer #NGOOuraction

Volunteer support, Ball of mules, Martinici

NGO Our action had the honor to support the 5th Ball of mules with its volunteers in Martinici. In this fantastic setting with an abundance of home made products, mulled wine and other homemade refreshements this ball was visited by 4000 people in one day. The mules enjoyed plenty of carrots and apples, and the people enjoyed them and the surrounding nature. Our volunteers had the opportunity to experience and volunteer someplace new, see another beautiful part of Montenegro and see a home based sustainable business at first hand, while in the same time helping in the organization of the event. Volunteer support for the UpShift project, elemetary school “Njegos”, Kotor

On the 16th of November volunteer of NGO Our action offered assistance to a team of students that won the UpShift project funds for a improvement of the elementary school “Njegos” in Skaljari, Kotor. Many local volunteers, students of the school and their parents, educational staff and the fire department joined this working activity. The action consisted of tree planting, court yard cleaning, removing of old window tapestry, paining the entire gym, painting the walls in the girls and boys bathrooms, painting the school entrance, cleaning of drainage channels around the entire school and removing dangerous leaning and broken tree branches from the school roof. We thank the UpShift wining team consisting of Ivana Rapovac, Dejana Vujkovic and Nadja Srdic on a greatly organized event. Thanks to all the volunteers especially the elementary school teacher Tanja Lalosevic. Thank to the director and the admin staff for cooperation, and thank you to the local Kotor fire department.

First visit to the Podgorica dog shelter

On the 31st of October NGO Our action mad our fist visit to the Podgorica dog shelter. The activity was dedicated to learning about the rules in the operation of the shelter, and the way NGO Hand to Paw works with authorities at the shelter. The action focused on walking the dogs, feeding and spending time with them. It was a true pleasure on both sides of the fence. Next time we will come ready with more leashes and food.
