Based on the proposal of our leaders of the youth education team Jane Obradovic and Brajan Martic, an educational documentary film evening was held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in the premises of the NGO Our action. The evening was opened by Brian, followed by a screening of David Attenborough’s film: “A life on our planet”. Time management workshop

A step into the world of adults, a step from primary to secondary school, then from high school to college or work requires much more responsibilities and skills than the education system transfers to young people. That’s why we’ve been talking about time management skills for the past few days to keep young people productive and successful. Time management is one of the most important skills we need to master throughout life because it is the key to satisfaction in professional and personal life. NGO Our action through the support of the European Endowment for Democracy continues the education of young people through the program “Career education and employability of young people”.

Weekend youth work in Kotor and Podgorica

Last weekend, young members of the NGO Our action spent time working and helping in Kotor and Podgorica. On Saturday, February 6, we were in charge of removing the lighting from the citadel and bridges, as well as the hotel balconies, and then analyzing the condition of the floodlights on the ramparts. The action was realized in cooperation with the Directorate for Development and Construction of Kotor. On Sunday, February 7, we went to Basta Ekologika on Mareza in Podgorica to lend a hand to the NGO Paradigma in the realization of the project “Nova moba”. Soil and fertilizer have been prepared for new towers for vegetables and greenhouses that will be set up in many cities in Montenegro. Educational visit to “Speltarium”

On this rainy and last day of January, a group of young people from the NGO Our action and the NGO Green home visited the Speltarium in Zabjelo to learn more about this wonderful virgin wheat grass. Speltarium with a lot of effort, experimentation and work was built by a small company Permakultura.me-Academy for Urban Ecological Engineering. We were hosted by our dear Aleksandrina Vujacic, an engineer, professor and designer of permaculture who motivated us with her detailed and honest presentation on the battle for the perfect product – an extract of young spelled grass. The NGO Our action organized this activity as part of the program “Nature for the physical and mental health of young people” and is funded through the institutional support of the European Endowment for Democracy.

Career counseling workshop for young people

On Saturday, January 31, another group of young people stopped by the offices of the NGO Our action for a consultation and education on the topic of career counseling. Part of the team also decided to apply for Upshift, so after the workshop they stayed to brainstorm. The goal of such and similar activities is to further improve the skills and information of young people on how to advance and direct their careers, how to get a job and / or enroll in foreign universities and scholarships. Volunteer planting activity in the park forest Zlatica, Podgorica

Today, a small and hard-working team participated in the forestation action in the park-forest Zlatica, which is now richer by 500 seedlings of black pine, spruce, koštela, mulberry and ash. Camp Full Monte visit, Herceg Novi

On Wednesday, January 27, a small scout team of the NGO Our action visited Camp Full Monte in Herceg Novi. Our hosts Denise and Steve Boyton-Jennings introduced the young people to the way the camp works as well as the off-grid living opportunities. Solar heating and electricity production, toilets on the composting system, special irrigation systems, everything is there for training, a rocket kiln for clay. Cooperation has been agreed in the form of spring educational and work camps, where young people can learn a lot at this location.

Open days for young people

The past rainy weekend was used by over 30 young people for education, improving their skills, applying for various projects, participating in lectures and working on their career education. NGO Our action organized lectures, workshops and one-on-one career consultations for young people through its open days workshop “Conversations with Marta”. Several of our members simultaneously participated in the “Business Challenge of Montenegro” organized online by UDG. The goal of such and similar activities is to further improve the skills and information of young people on how to advance and direct their careers, how to get a job and / or enroll in foreign universities and scholarships.

Working camp at elementary school “Nikola Djurkovic”, Radanovic

On Sunday, January 17, the young NGO Our action completed a five-day volunteer work camp of renovating the elementary school “Nikola Djurkovic” in Radanovici. In this first phase of the works, the focus of the works was the mathematics classroom, a large hallway on the lower floor of the school of about 150 m2, painting old benches, and painting the classroom doors on the lower floor of the school. The works included a large amount of scraping, smoothing and sanding of badly damaged and old walls, then the substrate and painting. 18 young volunteers aged 14 to 21 took part in the action, and students of the Faculty of Maritime Studies joined for two days.

The material for this activity was provided by the NGO Our action through the Youth Council of Kotor (Kotor Municipality), then the roofing material through the Directorate for Construction of Kotor and the rest of the needs were covered through funds provided by the NGO Our action through the European endowment for democracy. We owe a special thank you to Marijan Santic, who lent us the scales for working on high ceilings, and to all the teachers and parents who brought refreshments and donations in the form of food to the volunteers.

“This is the fourth school organized by the NGO Our action so that our youngest citizens have a better learning environment. In the second phase of the project, the biology classroom will be arranged and the school yard will be arranged. Now we are waiting for the caretaker to finish the roof of the classroom and library. with the material we provided because it is leaking now. Only then does continuing work make sense. We are still trying to provide bookshelves in good condition for the library because many of the leaks have been destroyed, as well as a map of the world the school needs. project Dejan Besovic. Acorn collection action

On December 31, 2020, our young team traveled to Herceg Novi for the action of collecting acorns, one of the few specimens of oak still represented on the coast. This is the third year in a row that our organization finishes the year with this activity, with our now experienced collectors inspecting every acorn. Sufficient specimens were collected for seedlings and for donation to the ecological sections of primary schools “Njegos” and “Nikola Djurkovic” in Kotor. This activity is implemented as part of the program “Nature for physical and mental health of young people” implemented by the NGO Our Action and funded through institutional support of the European Endowment for Democracy, and aims to activate as many young people to spend their free time in nature. not only their health but also learn to love and respect their country.
