Planting of Milos forest on Dajbabska gora, Podgorica

During december NGO Our action joined the planting action of Milos forest on Dajbabska gora in Podgorica. This activity was organized by the organization KOD. It was the beginning of the reforestation of the area funded by money collected by local artist Milos who sold his art work for the purchase of trees. About one hundred trees where planted. We enjoyed being part of this activity. A big thanks to the artist Milos. More to come on planting at this location. #budiprimjer #NGOOuraction

CV workshop and annual results

The first week of december we organized the last of our CV workshop for the year 2019 which include carrier counseling. Ten new youth volunteers completed the training course and had the opportunity to talk to youth about how they found a job and about their first employment experiences. . In 2019 NGO Our action had 10 workshops to assist youth to achieve gainful employment. Additionally we held workshops on “Effective time management”, “Volunteering and your career” with a total over over 133 in attendance. Furthermore 64% of youth in our NGO from 16 to 22 years of age already had their first work exeriences, older volunteer with already some experience under their belts, and this year 40% of new members of age 16 to 18 where seasonally gainfully employed and in this way where able to assist their families finances by paying for their universities, excursions, prom and other costs. In 2020 additional value added outside of school education will be added.

Volunteer support, Ball of mules, Martinici

NGO Our action had the honor to support the 5th Ball of mules with its volunteers in Martinici. In this fantastic setting with an abundance of home made products, mulled wine and other homemade refreshements this ball was visited by 4000 people in one day. The mules enjoyed plenty of carrots and apples, and the people enjoyed them and the surrounding nature. Our volunteers had the opportunity to experience and volunteer someplace new, see another beautiful part of Montenegro and see a home based sustainable business at first hand, while in the same time helping in the organization of the event. Volunteer support for the UpShift project, elemetary school “Njegos”, Kotor

On the 16th of November volunteer of NGO Our action offered assistance to a team of students that won the UpShift project funds for a improvement of the elementary school “Njegos” in Skaljari, Kotor. Many local volunteers, students of the school and their parents, educational staff and the fire department joined this working activity. The action consisted of tree planting, court yard cleaning, removing of old window tapestry, paining the entire gym, painting the walls in the girls and boys bathrooms, painting the school entrance, cleaning of drainage channels around the entire school and removing dangerous leaning and broken tree branches from the school roof. We thank the UpShift wining team consisting of Ivana Rapovac, Dejana Vujkovic and Nadja Srdic on a greatly organized event. Thanks to all the volunteers especially the elementary school teacher Tanja Lalosevic. Thank to the director and the admin staff for cooperation, and thank you to the local Kotor fire department.

First visit to the Podgorica dog shelter

On the 31st of October NGO Our action mad our fist visit to the Podgorica dog shelter. The activity was dedicated to learning about the rules in the operation of the shelter, and the way NGO Hand to Paw works with authorities at the shelter. The action focused on walking the dogs, feeding and spending time with them. It was a true pleasure on both sides of the fence. Next time we will come ready with more leashes and food.

Support for the 200th action on Mount Gorica, Podgorica

This very cold and windy morning we spend today on Mount Gorica assisting our partners, the Union of Gorica lovers, to celebrate their 200th activity at this location. With us in the activity was the Greening department of Podgorica as well as the Podgorica Waste management company and other NGOs. In the same time this activity was our last activity of 2019 in which we completed 131 actions, which is a new record for NGO Our action. With our members and volunteers we supported clean up actions, humanitarian actions, cultural and sport events, completed projects, educated and much more. Thanks to all the volunteers who participated and to the Union of Gorica lovers for keeping this location fantastic for all to enjoy.

Refeshing playground – Stari aerodrom, faze 1

On Monday, October 28, the first phase of refreshment of the playgrounds and spaces at the Old Airport near the Health Center was initiated, across from bus stop 7 & 8. NGO Our action volunteers managed to paint wooden benches, and swing frame as well as a metal bench and football goal frames before the afternoon school shift. Most of this inventory was set up by volunteers from the NGO Our action already in 2013 and needed to be refreshed. We have also received a seedling donation so the next phase will involve planting and assembling the swings. In the meantime, we learn from the Greening department that they have applied for funds for a large playground to be built on this site. In the hope that it will not be wooden but other materials, we wish the children of this area to finally get a quality durable playground that will last as long as the structures that are now in the area. Career counseling and CV workshop, Kotor

On Wednesday, October 9, a workshop for youth “Career counseling and CV workshop” was organized at the NGO Center in Rakite (Kotor), organized by the NGO Our action.
“Young people between the ages of 15 and 30 are increasingly interested in extracurricular education, especially on this topic, which is a normal part of the secondary education system abroad, but unfortunately not in our country. Active engagement of young people in their education, CV writing and motivation letters business and work ethics, personal finance are essential for planning your business career but also for applying for scholarships, projects, EVS and other student exchanges, as well as other youth opportunities. ” says executive director Patricia Pobric.
This is the first in a series of extracurricular educational workshops that NGO Our action has planned for youth in Kotor this school year, based on the needs of young people in a survey conducted last year by NGO Our action. The workshops will be held once a month at the NGO Center in Rakite and will be announced on the Kotor Youth Info Center facebook page as well as other media channels.

Day for donations, Podgorica

A Donor Day was held today at the premises of the Youth Educational Center in Baston, Podgorica. This is the first such activity that NGO Our Action has accomplished and we have helped 25 families on this day. Young volunteers (and their families) contributed not only to the event itself, but also donated and collected clothing, shoes, toys and furniture before the event. We plan to implement similar activity in October in Kotor. This day made the most happy children who were delighted to get home with their new toys, bags and cases.
