Kotor’s NGO Our action and Marine Mammals Research Association Sign Cooperation Agreement

August 27, 2020 – NGO Naša Akcija from Kotor and the Marine Mammals Research Association (DMAD) from Turkey, also with a branch in Radovići, signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday in Kotor. The contract was signed on behalf of the NGO by its Executive Director Patricia Pobrić, and on behalf of DMAD by Dr. Aylin Akkaya. The main aim of the cooperation is to connect young people with the association and its long-term research work in Montenegro through education and field work with scientists. This will be offered at various levels; firstly to students of biology and ecology, and then to high school and elementary school pupils. During the activities, young people will also have the opportunity to meet students in the same professions from other countries who both live and carry out research work in our country. The cooperation also aims to support the implementation of the project “Youth for a Clean Adriatic”, which Naša Akcija has been working on since May 2019, and which is supported by Beyond Plastic Med and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. By joining forces, the project aims to ensure a comprehensive approach to education on the problem of plastic and other marine waste pollution, as well as the impact of the pollution on wildlife.

Action cleaning Ribnica

At the invitation of our friends from the Sastavci Beach Bar, a new member of the Culture club family, we organized an action of cleaning the shore at Sastavci as well as the currently dry Ribnica riverbed. In addition to the young volunteer force of the NGO Our action, friends of the Sastavci Beach Bar, members of the Green Home and other citizens also responded. We are all aware of what Ribnica looked like in the winter and when the water receded a lot of waste, especially plastic and other packaging, as well as plastic bags remained in the riverbed. A total of 23- 120 litter bags, remnants of various wooden furniture as well as tires were collected. This activity, as well as all others within which we clean the banks of rivers, lakes and the sea, are part of the project “Youth for a Clean Adriatic” under the auspices of BeMed and the Prince Albert II Foundation of Monaco. Also a big thank you to our hosts Beach Bar Sastavci especially for the snack they prepared for the volunteers.

The first action of making installations for the Interreg project “WELCOME

Last weekend, young volunteers of the NGO Our action started an action of making art installations from collected natural and processed wood from the beach. Within the project “WELCOME” (WatER LandsCapes sustainability thrOught reuse of Marine littEr) which is financed through “Interreg IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro”, JU Morsko dobro announced in October 2019 a competition for the production of these art installations for which our organization won the third prize. The proposal of our young artists includes two installations – a crab and a jellyfish, which will be composed of natural materials without the use of nails or some other materials harmful to nature. After the construction, all installations within the project are planned to be placed on the dunes on Velika plaža and will serve as artistic protective constructions for the preservation of sand dunes. During this action day, one part of the team was in charge of procuring glue, wooden dowels and ropes, the other part of the team was working on the beach to gather the necessary material. The experience took the young people to one of the worst beaches in Montenegro, right to the right of the Lustica bay complex. After that, they started making installations that slowly began to form. We will not publish the results, ie the installations themselves, until the action of setting them up, on March 28, 2020.

River clean-up action, Ribnica

On the 10th of November, under very poor weather conditions, we managed to organize the river Ribnica clean-up action. The action was joined by our partner organization the kayak club “Podgorica” and the Podgorica Waste management company. We have managed to collect 30 bags of waste and a decent amount of larger waste items such as chairs and paint cans. Since the recent flooding and coastal bad weather brought a lot of plastic and other waste to the beaches and river banks, we are calling for all organizations, willing volunteer, citizens and the waste management companies to have actions to clean the accumulations. Additionally we sincerely thank all volunteers who helped during this action in the cold, wind and rain. . #budiprimjer #NVONasaakcija #NGOOurAction #MladizacistJadran #YouthforacleanAdriatic
